March 20 to 26 - Mead Jazz Fest Week!

Good evening, Everyone!

University of Montana Buddy De Franco Jazz Festival Recap

As usual, the University of Montana Buddy De Franco Jazz Festival was an amazing experience for the students. From the educational improv and MasterCalsses, the incredible performances by our groups, the inspiring performances by the U of M Jazz Band, the U of M Faculty, professional guests artists and other great high school students on site, there was something amazing for everyone to experience!

Congrats to all Jazz 2 and Jazz 1 members on their awesome performances!

Some special recognition went out to:

Jazz 2 - Ivy Brauner and Jace Samaha - Outstanding Musicians

Jazz 1 - Hannah Robbins - Outstanding Musician for her beautiful jazz flute playing, Will Farley, Valin Gabriel, Jake Gendreau, Colin McKenna, Katherine Selby as the U of M Festival Best Rhythm Section and Will Strauch, Nick Kar, and Teghan Bright as U of M Outstanding Soloists (only 3 students were selected - and they were all from Mead!)

The Jazz 1 rhythm section and outstanding soloists played in the night concert! (if you look closely enough you can even see another familiar face in the picture :D )

Congratulations to Will Strauch, featured soloist with the Coeur d'Alene.

On Saturday evening 3/18, less than 24 hours from our U of M return, Will was on stage with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony performing the trombone concerto which he was also one of 3 winners of the Spokane Youth Symphony Concerto competition. Way to go Will!
